In 1989 Hennie was asked to teach a class in computer graphics at Academy
of Art University in San Francisco where she was a student. The experience was so moving that she decided to teach after she recieved her degree in graphic design from Academy.
For fourteen years she taught design and illustration in Computer Arts under graduate department. She also taught many of the New Media graduate courses focusing on Interactive design, Interface design, and Information design. In additon she held directed studies helping graduate students develop their portfolio.
Hennie has been instrumental in developing and writing the curriculum for the New Media graduate program at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
